12th World Congress in Canada

Lush Prize will open for nominations for the 2024 prize cycle during the ’12th World Congress’ in Canada

Every two years or so, scientists looking to replace animal use in research meet at a ‘World Congress’ to share knowledge and plans.

This year the 12th World Congress takes place at Niagara Falls in Canada in August, and as in previous years, the Lush Prize team is sponsoring, attending and speaking at various elements of the event.

Please come and meet us at our booth in the exhibition hall – we’ll be there between 1.00pm and 2.00pm daily.

Our Director Rob Harrison will also be speaking on a panel on the Wednesday morning at 9.00am called: “It’s how you say it! Effective science communication to promote animal replacement.”

On display at the booth will be a couple of our recent research papers which can be downloaded as PDFs:

With another 320,000 USD (£250,000) due to be awarded in the 2024 prize cycle, we’ll also be announcing the opening of nominations at the event on August 30th.

Nominations will close on December 1st, and awards will be made at a ceremony on May 17th 2024.

We’ll be looking for ‘outstanding achievements’ in the previous two years in our usual categories of Science, Training, Young Researcher, Public Awareness and Lobbying.

We have two new non-cash awards this year:

  • Major Science Collaboration, and
  • Health Charity Project

We’ll also have some new judges on our panel.
